SYNOPSIS - Acclaimed mystery author and comics writer Max Allan Collins took over scripting Chester Goulds iconic detective strip in 1978, and Dick Tracy would never be the same again. Third of nine volumes collecting Collinss masterful yet controversial 15-year run. Art by Rick Fletcher.
Chester Gould pitched his most legendary character, a dashing and daring detective for the Chicago Tribunes comics page and syndicate in 1931. He used the title Plainclothes Tracy, but Tribune head General Joseph Medill Patterson renamed him Dick Tracy before giving him a slot in the paper. Modeled in the image of the innovative Sherlock Holmes, the character inspired Gould to create new crime-fighting technology, including the two-way wrist radio.
